Oil, gas production in Turkmenistan exceeds forecasts

Oil and gas extraction in Turkmenistan has exceeded the initial forecasts, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The issue was discussed as part of the report on the country's GDP results forthe mentioned period, at the working meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

The report said that from January through May of 2020, the plan for oil and gas condensate production was exceeded by 8.3 percent, natural and associated gas by 9.2 percent, and diesel fuel by 3.6 percent - all compared to the same period of last year.

The rate of production of liquefied gas was exceeded by 18 percent.

During the meeting President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov instructed to ensure stable operation of the industry's enterprises, effectively use their resource base and export potential, as well as develop international cooperation in these areas.

The president noted that it is necessary to improve the structure and management system of the production units of the sector and attract investments for the construction of new facilities.

Increasing the volume of local oil and gas production, maintaining high growth rates and investment activity in this area are the main tasks of Turkmenistan.

In this regard, earlier, the president instructed relevant authorities to monitor the work carried out in this area.
