Iran to increase oil exports through Shahid Rajaee port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21

The export of oil products through the Shahid Rajaee port in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) will increase by 30 percent, Chairman of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran’s (PMO) branch in Hormozgan Province and Head of Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone Allahmorad Afifipour said, Trend reports citing PMO.

The chairman emphasized that in this regard, the construction of 3 platforms in the Shahid Rajaee port began in 2017.

Afifipour added that 1.62 trillion rials (about $38.5 million) in funds have been allocated for the construction of the platforms.

"The three platforms together are 1,300 meters long and 850 meters wide. There is about 44 percent progress in the construction of the platforms,” he said.

The chairman said that with the commissioning of these platforms, 3 units 100,000-ton ships will be able to dock at the Shahid Rajaee port at the same time.

With the commissioning of these platforms, the number of oil platforms in Iran's Hormozgan Province will increase to 16.

As much as 2.53 million tons of cargo was loaded and 1.67 million tons were unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port during two months (March 20-May 20, 2020). About 2.07 million tons of products were exported, 507,000 tons of products were imported and 45,800 tons of products were transited through this port.
