TEHRAN, Iran, July 5
Trend:
Iran has launched the second phase of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, Trend reports, citing IRNA.
Addressing the ceremony, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said that the Persian Gulf Star Refinery is a significant project in the region and the world, thanks to which, Iran no longer depends on gasoline import.
"Iran’s population is 80 million and its daily gasoline consumption is 80 million liters. In order to export gasoline, the country needs to ensure optimal fuel consumption," he said.
Iran's daily gasoline production is around 105 million liters and the share of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery is 40 million liters of gasoline per day. About 70 percent of the refinery's gasoline production is consumed by other plants.
The Persian Gulf Star Refinery is located on 700 hectare land on the west side of Bandar Abbas Refinery and is considered one of the biggest gas condensate refineries in the world.
