Official: China only country that officially buys Iran's oil

TEHRAN, Iran, July. 10

Trend:

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Gholamreza Ansari highlighted the relationship between Iran and China and said that China is the only country that officially imports Iranian oil, Trend reports citing IRIB.

“Iran sells its oil to different countries in various ways, but China is the only country which official purchases Iranian oil despite sanctions,” Ansari said in a televised interview.

He pointed out that at the last meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, China and Russia were the only two countries who voted against the agency's resolution against Iran.

Also, he pointed out that the relationship between China and Iran is very significant in the field of fighting against COVID-19.

“More than 50 shipments of Chinese aid were dispatched to Iran amid Coronavirus outbreak,” Ansari said.

The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.

The Islamic Republic of Iran only announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on Feb. 19.

Speaking further, Ansari rejected some rumors regarding the transfer of Kish Island to the Chinese in the form an agreement.
