Volume of gas pumped into Iran's Shourijeh D gas storage facility grows

The volume of natural gas pumped to the Shourijeh D gas storage facility in the Razavi Khorasan Province (northeastern Iran) has increased by 55 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date (July 15) compared to the same period of the last Iranian year, Executive Director of the East Oil and Gas Production Company Abolhassan Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.

According to him, so far, 950 million cubic meters of gas have been pumped into the gas storage facility. This means that the plan has been fulfilled by 97 percent.

Mohammadi added that gas is being pumped into the storage, and it is planned to take about 17 million cubic meters of gas per day from the storage facility in the peak hours of the current year.

"In the summer, a maximum of 12.5 million cubic meters of gas is pumped into the Shourijeh D storage facility daily. In the winter, a maximum of 16.7 million cubic meters of gas is taken from the storage," he said.

The director emphasized that about 8.76 billion cubic meters of gas has been pumped into the storage facility and 7.26 billion cubic meters of gas has been taken since 2014.

The East Oil and Gas Production Company is operating under the Central Oil Fields Company. The company works on Khangiran and Gunbadli gas fields.

About 1.72 billion cubic meters of gas was taken from the Shourijeh D storage facility last Iranian year. At present, the annual gas storage potential of this storage facility is about 2.4 billion cubic meters. According to the development program of the Iranian Oil Ministry, its capacity can be increased to 4.8 billion cubic meters.
