Iran's production from West Karun oil fields increases

The production from oil fields that are located west of the Karun River in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) has increased by 430 percent over the past seven years (the current Iranian government came to power in 2013), Trend reports citing the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

According to the report, the production from Iran's oil fields in west of the Karun River (North Azadegan, South Azadegan, Yadavaran, North Yaran and South Yaran) was 70,000 barrels per day seven years ago, but now it has risen to 370,000 barrels per day.

At present, the North Azadegan oil field produces 75,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It is planned to increase production of this field to 150,000 barrels per day.

The North Azadegan oil field is located 120 km west of the Ahvaz city in Khuzestan Province in the area of ​​about 460 square kilometers.

“The South Azadegan oil field produces 140,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It is planned to increase oil production from this field to 320,000 barrels per day in the first stage and 600,000 barrels in the second stage,” the report said.

The South Azadegan oil field is located in the area of about 440 square kilometers, 80 km west of the Ahvaz city.

According to the report, Iran's Azadegan oil field consists of two parts. The Azadegan oil field (the field is called Majnoon field in Iraq) is one of Iran’s joint oil fields with Iraq. In total, the field contains more than 45 billion barrels of oil.

Iran's Yadavaran oil field currently produces 115,000 barrels per day. It is planned to increase production of this field to 180,000 barrels.

“The Yadavaran oil field (the field is called Sinbad in Iraq) is one of Iran's joint oil fields with Iraq. It is located 60 kilometers from the Ahvaz city in Iran's Khuzestan Province. The field contains 17 billion barrels of oil, the report noted.

Iran's South Yaran oil field produces 10,000 barrels of oil per day, at present. It is planned to increase the production from this field to 25,000 barrels, according to the report.

The South Yaran oil field is located in the area of 51 square kilometers, 130 km west of the Ahvaz city.

“Iran's North Yaran oil field produces 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day,” the report said.

The North Yaran oil field is located about 60 square kilometers west of the North Azadegan field.

The Yaran oil field (the field is called Majnoon field in Iraq) is Iran's joint oil field with Iraq. The field contains 2 billion barrels of crude oil. Iran plans to produce a total of 39.5 million barrels of crude oil from the field over 10 years.
