SOCAR Turkey updates on SOCAR Fiber network’s construction

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.10

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The infrastructure construction SOCAR Fiber network’s Turkish part is planned to be completed by the end of 2020, SOCAR Turkey told Trend.

“The fiber optic cable, which is laid along the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), starts from Turkey’s border with Georgia in the east and ends on the Greek border in the west. Traversing Turkey from east to west, the fiber optic cable is expected to run to the middle parts of Europe along SOCAR’s natural gas pipelines in order to ensure uninterrupted data flow,” the company said.

SOCAR Turkey said that SOCAR Fiber network is designed at a length of 1,850 kilometers, including the Marmara Sea crossing.

“We plan to complete the infrastructure construction of the cable’s Turkish part by the end of 2020. That’s to say, we haven’t yet reached the stage of integration of SOCAR Fiber Optic with Millenicom network. We will evaluate this in the upcoming periods,” said the company.

Earlier, SOCAR told Trend that the network of SOCAR Fiber Optic, which envisages laying fiber optic cable along the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) route in Turkey, can be integrated with the network of Millenicom acquired by Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR.
