Georgian Wissol Group to revise fuel prices amid global trends

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The international oil prices have been rising since July 29 that will definitely affect the Georgian market, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

According to Wissol Group President Soso Pkhakadze, fuel prices in Wissol Group are planned to be revised in the near future.

Wissol Petroleum is a founding company of Wissol Group, the largest retailer business group in Georgia which owns auto-service centers of Vianor Georgia, Smart supermarket chain, network of Wendy's Georgia, advertising company Alma and other smaller businesses.

“We are selling the reserves, which were purchased at relatively low prices and are not going to increase prices so far. But soon we will buy fuel at higher prices, and this will be reflected in the sales in domestic market. During the pandemic, oil prices dropped dramatically, and we purchased a large stock of oil products at very low prices,” he explained.

According to Pkhakadze, today oil price is more than $40 per barrel on the international market and the current prices at the filling stations don’t reflect the reality.

Pkhakadze believes if the current global trend continues and prices do not resume falling, prices will rise by about 10 tetri (3.26 cents) per liter.

Meanwhile, today, the most popular Euro Regular gasoline costs an average of 1.82 lari (59 cents) in Georgia while a month ago its price was 1.74 lari (57 cents).

Last month oil products have risen by 4.5 percent in price in Georgia.
