Oil transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline decreases

More than 16.3 million barrels of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in June 2020, which is 18.4 percent less compared to June 2019, Trend reports citing the Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Company (BOTAS).

As reported, the indicated figure for June 2019 was 19.3 million barrels.

From January through June 2020, over 111 million barrels of oil were transported via the BTC pipeline, the company said.

In 2019, 235.2 million barrels of oil were shipped through the BTC pipeline, which is 7.8 percent less compared to 2018.

The total length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers lies on Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers - Georgia, 1,076 kilometers - Turkey.

Construction of the BTC pipeline began in April 2003, and its filling with oil on May 18, 2005.
