Uzbekistan continues to increase oil production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 21

Oil production in Uzbekistan increased by 3.5 percent in the period from January through July 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In total, Uzbekistan produced 422,000 tons of oil the during the period. In July 2020, Uzbekistan produced 63,900 tons of oil.

During the first half of 2020, Uzbekistan produced 358,000 tons of oil, which is 3.1 percent increase in comparison to the same period of 2019.

Besides, oil production in Uzbekistan increased by 8.2 percent in the second quarter of 2020 compared to the first quarter of 2020, and by 7.8 percent compared to the second quarter of 2019, making up 186.100 tons, the report says.

The main holding of Uzbekistan's oil and gas industry, Uzbekneftegaz is a state-owned holding company and the largest state company in Uzbekistan. The company ranks 11th in the world's natural gas production.

At the beginning of 2020, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed Uzbekneftegaz to thoroughly analyze each field it is operating at and ensure the increase in oil and gas production.
