Iran's NIDC names number of wells drilled

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) drilled 109 oil and gas wells in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Managing Director of the NIDC, Abdollah Mousavi said, Trend reports citing NIDC’s official website.

Mousavi stressed that of the drilled wells, 30 were development wells, 10 were delineation wells and 69 were repair wells.

He added that in total, the company has drilled more than 133,000 meters.

The director noted that 19,300 meters of horizontal and directional drillings were carried out in oil and gas wells in the last Iranian year.

According to Mousavi, at present, the National Iranian Drilling Company has 72 drilling rigs.

The director said that National Iranian Drilling Company started to implement the contract worth $41 million on the development of the Ramin and Balarud oil fields in Khuzestan Province.

In addition, the company also began to implement the contract worth $60 million on the development of Sepehr and Jufair oil fields in Khuzestan Province, he added.

As many as 47 oil and gas wells were drilled in Iran during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2020). The total depth of the drilled wells was 32,800 meters.

Iran’s Sepehr oil field's reserves are estimated at 5.4 billion barrels of oil. As reported, 450 million barrels of it can be extracted. The development and commissioning of this field were transferred to the Iranian Pasargad Energy Development Company.

Iran’s Jufair oil field's reserves are estimated at 4.4 billion barrels of oil. Its potential production reaches 390 million barrels. Some 50,000 barrels of oil are extracted from this field daily. The field development project also was transferred to the Pasargad Energy Development Company.

Iran's Ramin oil field is located in Khuzestan Province. The field contains 7.39 billion barrels of oil, of which 1.11 billion barrels can be extracted. The field produces about 2,000 barrels of oil per day. The development of this field was transferred to the Iranian Persia Oil and Gas Industry Development Company.

Iran's Balarud oil field is located in Khuzestan Province. The field contains 1.1 billion tons of crude oil and 2 trillion cubic feet (56.6 billion cubic meters) of gas. The field currently produces about 32,000 barrels oil per day. The development of this field was transferred to the Iranian Persia Oil and Gas Industry Development Company.

Iran has 125 oil fields and 59 gas fields. The country's total hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 836 billion barrels. With available technology and equipment, Iran can extract 239 billion barrels. Thus, 29 percent of the country hydrocarbon reserves are recoverable, while 71 percent remain underground.
