Water and electricity facilities launched operations in Iran

As many as 5 water and electricity facilities worth 32.4 trillion rials (about $772 million) were commissioned in three provinces of Iran today (September 3), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian, and other officials attended the event dedicated to the commissioning of facilities via videoconference.

According to the report, the second 307-megawatts gas unit of the Dalaho Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plant has been commissioned in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran).

About 25.3 trillion rials (about $602 million) was spent on the construction of this unit.

“The Kalghan dam in East Azerbaijan (northwestern Iran) has been commissioned. About 5 trillion rials (about $119 million) was spent on the construction of this dam. This dam has a capacity of 22 million cubic meters. It is 65 meters high and 520 meters long,” the report noted.

According to the report, two solar panel stations and 1 electrical substation were commissioned in the Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran).

“The 200-kilowatt-hours solar panel station can generate a total of 326,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity. This station can save 110,000 cubic meters of natural gas per year and prevent the release of 274 tons of CO2 into the environment as well as save 87.4 cubic meters of water per year,” the report added.

Additionally, the 1.5-megawatt-hours solar power station can generate 2.44 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. Also, the station can save 850,000 cubic meters of gas per year, prevent the release of 2,050 tons of CO2 into the environment and save 655 cubic meters of water, the report said.

According to the report, about 2 trillion rials (about $47.6 million) was spent on the construction of the 230-kilovolt substation. This substation was established to transport and distribute 140-volt amperes of electricity and reduce electricity loss.
