Kazakhstan's crude petroleum oil exports to EU plummet amid COVID-19

Kazakhstan has exported 2.2 million tons of crude petroleum oil and oil obtained from bituminous minerals worth 542.5 million euros to EU in June 2020, Eurostat official told Trend.

In turn, Kazakhstan exported 18.4 million tons of petroleum oil and oil obtained from bituminous minerals worth 5.7 billion euros to EU in 1H2020.

Thus, the June volume of petroleum oil and oil obtained from bituminous minerals from Kazakhstan to EU is 30.3 percent less than in volume compared to May 2020 (3.2 million tons) and is 69.2 percent less than in Jan. 2020 (3.7 billion tons).

June’s export value is also 13.9 percent more than in May 2020 (21.5 million euros) and is 80.9 percent less than in Jan. 2020 (33.5 million euros).

The value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and EU countries amounted to $13.1 billion over 1H2020, compared to $15.4 billion during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export to EU countries amounted to $10.4 billion over the period from January through June 2020, compared to $12.4 billion during the same period of 2019.

In turn, Kazakhstan’s imports from EU countries slightly exceeded $2.7 billion over the reporting period, compared to $2.9 billion during the same period of 2019.
