BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 7

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

As many as 1,000 small-scale solar panel stations will be commissioned in Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021), Spokesman for Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to the Sigaroudi, these panels will be installed in residential areas.

He added that so far, 4,215 small-scale solar panels have been installed in residential areas in Iran.

The spokesman emphasized that such stations are being installed in Iran to increase the use of alternative renewable energy and the generated electricity is purchased with a guarantee.

"The highest price for electricity purchasing in Iran is planned for electricity produced by small-scale solar panels. So,10,400 rials (about 24 cent) is paid for each kilowatt-hour of electricity," he said.

Sigaroudi noted that the Ministry of Energy of Iran purchases the electricity from the owners of these stations for 20 years.

"Currently, the owner of a 5-kilowatt station can earn 10 million rials (about $238) per month by selling of this electricity," he added.
