Iran's Shimibaft Petrochemical Company increased production

Iran’s Shimibaft Petrochemical Company has produced 45,000 tons of MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to September 16, Executive Director of the company, Mohsen Shams said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to the director, this is an increase of 18 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added the company also produced 1,810 tons of MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) during the reporting period, which is an increase of 29 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Shams noted that the production of 370 tons of MEK by the company per month is considered a monthly record.

“The reasons for the increase in production of the company are the installation of several equipments in plants, timely delivery of fuel, and so on,” he said.

The director emphasized the sales of Shimibaft Company increased by 7 percent during the same period compared to the same period last Iranian year.

"The company's products sold for export increased by 56 percent in terms of value and 89 percent in terms of volume," he added.

Due to the US sanctions against Iran, some data on the sale of companies in Iran, mainly in the oil and petrochemical sector, are not disclosed.
