Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan in talks on gas exports

The possibility of exporting Turkmen gas to Kazakhstan was discussed, said Kazakh Prime Minister, Askar Mamin, Trend reports with reference to Turkmen media.

The discussion was held during the visit of the Kazakh prime minister to Turkmenistan.

The work in underway in this direction, which includes the implementation of new projects and new volumes of gas supplies, said Mamin.

The prime minister noted, that such cooperation is carried out due to the development of Turkmenistan's export supplies, as well as the improvement of the domestic gas consumption market in Kazakhstan.

In addition, the growth of cooperation between the countries in the agricultural sector was also discussed during the Kazakh prime minister’s visit to Turkmenistan.

Currently, the countries are cooperating in energy resources exports. In particular, Kazakhstan exported 89.9 tons of petroleum products worth $103,182 to Turkmenistan in 1H2020.

Kazakhstan is involved in a big project to supply the Central Asian gas to China. Since 2009, China National Petroleum Corporation has been purchasing Turkmen fuel transported through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
