BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.23

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Oil accounts for the major part of exports from Azerbaijan to Croatia, Croatian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development told Trend.

“Looking at the data for foreign trade in goods for the first six months of this year in comparison with the same six months of the last year, both imports and exports between our two countries have risen. This is especially evident when it comes to Croatian imports from Azerbaijan, which amounted to EUR 286.9 million, an increase of 542.1 percent. Most of these imports, worth EUR 286.7 million, fall on oil. With a 2.6 percent share, Azerbaijan ranks 12th in total imports. As for exports, in the same period, there was an increase of 11.5 percent compared to the same period last year,” said the ministry.

Regarding Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, the ministry said it is an excellent tool for further strengthening our cooperation in various fields, ranging from the machine and shipbuilding, pharmaceutical, and the tourism sector to energy, transportation, IT and agriculture. Unfortunately, because of the current epidemiological situation, the planned session in April has been postponed.

“Croatia considers Azerbaijan as an important strategic partner. Partnership is confirmed in the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two countries signed in 2013. The strategic partnership obliges us to encourage more intensive exchange between our state bodies, businesses, non-profit organizations and citizens,” said the ministry.
