IGB updates on line pipe manufacturing, supply status

The total produced quantity of line pipes for the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) stood at 150,870 meters as of September 29, 2020, the ICGB AD, the project company, told Trend.

The first four stages of the line pipe manufacturing are complete, while the fifth stage envisages production of 28 627 meters, said the company.

In total, 139,063 meters of line pipes have been delivered for the IGB.

The delivery schedule is as follows:

Milestone 1: 24.01.2020 – 31.03.2020 completed (47 034m)
Milestone 2: 07.04.2020 – 30.05.2020 completed (37 645m)
Milestone 3: 29.06.2020 – 05.08.2020 completed (36 192m )
Milestone 4: 01.09.2020 – 30.09.2020 delivered 18 192m out of 37 529m
Milestone 5: 01.11.2020 – 30.11.2020 scheduled (28 627m)

IGB project envisages the construction of a gas interconnector that will link the gas transmission systems of Greece and Bulgaria. The total length of the gas pipeline is 182.6 km, and its capacity for gas transmission is 3 billion cubic meters per year with the option to reach 5 billion cubic meters.

The route of the gas pipeline is divided into 7 main lots, the shortest being 9.55 km long and the longest - 71.90 km. 106 km of the route in Bulgaria will be completed with automatic welding, and the remaining 45 km - by manual welding.
