BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.14

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Azerbaijani exports from the Shah Deniz II field to Europe are expected to further increase in a range of 4-6 bcm in 2021, with the commissioning of the TAP pipeline in Q4 2020 and deliveries scheduled to reach Italy, Trend reports citing the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Azerbaijani exports to Turkey increased by an impressive 25 percent in the first eight months of 2020 y-o-y, as supplies from the Shah Deniz II field via the TANAP pipeline system continued ramping up. This was primarily at the expense of Russian and Iranian gas deliveries, IEA said in its Global Gas Security report.

The report shows that coupled with an increase in domestic demand, Azerbaijani gas production of sales gas rose by 12 percent in the first eight months of 2020.

After almost four and a half years since the start of construction, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline is substantially complete.

The TAP pipeline has been filled with natural gas from the Greek-Turkish border up to the pipeline receiving terminal in Southern Italy.

TAP is currently finalizing preparations for launching the commercial operations and offering capacity to the market in alignment with the adjacent TSOs.

The Interconnection Point between TAP pipeline and the natural gas transmission system of Snam Rete Gas in Puglia (Italy) is expected to be completed and ready to transport gas by mid-November 2020.
