Iran to unveil new oil field

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.19

Trend:

Iran is currently drilling at Yalda oilfield that is close to reaching the result in the next two weeks, said Deputy Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company for Explorations Affairs.

"A rig is drilling in 3,000 meters deep at Ylada oilfield as part of the exploratory operation and it has been predicted that it would reach the result within less than 100 meters," said Ali Moalemi, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"There are possibly 70 to 80 undeveloped oilfields that have been explored. One of our plans is to expand exploration in the Caspian Sea region for oil and gas fields, we are currently drilling in Gorgan and would start drilling for two wells in Hirkan region in Golestan Province," he added.

"Iran currently does not have any joint exploration project with its neighboring countries in border areas and each country runs exploration of wells separately," he said.

"The National Iranian Oil Company is studying Lorestan region for exploring shale gas while oil shale has been identified in Ghalikoh region that is ready to be developed but in general we do not have related technology while exploring the resources would be costly," he said.

"Due to budget and technology limitations, we are more cautious to prevent any risks. Despite sanction problems and tech limitations, we have reached exploration goals that have been designed for the Sixth Development Plan (2016 – 2021)," he said.
