Generation capacity Iran's power plants grows

The power generation capacity of Iran power plants has reached 84,500 megawatt-hours today on October 29, Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Homayoun Haeri said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

He made the remark in the event dedicated to the launch of 3 water and electricity facilities today.

The deputy minister emphasized that the increase in electricity generation capacity was achieved with the launch of the second gas unit of the Qeshm Combined Cycle Power Plant on the Qeshm Island in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran).

Haeri added that the 510-megawatt hours thermal power plant has two gas units each capacity of 175-megawatt hours and one 160-megawatt hours steam unit.

The deputy minister noted that the gas unit of the power plant will be put into operation after 2 years (in 2022).

“The power plant is being built with the joint investment of Gadir Electricity and Energy Investment Company and MAPNA Group and a total of more than 308 million euro will be spent on this power plant,” he said.

According to Haeri, 500 people were employed with the construction of this power plant, and 100 people more will be employed after the full launch of the power plant.
