Iran and Russia reach to agreement on construction of thermal power plant

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 31

Iran and Russia have reached to agreement related to the construction of the Sirik Thermal Power Plant in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), said Behnam Khaefinejad, the Project Manager at Iran’s Thermal Power Plant Holding Company, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Khaefinejad noted that the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation has declared a new contractor company for the construction of a 1,400-megawatt thermal power plant to the Iranian side.

The official added that about 200 hectares of land have been handed over to the new contractor company. The company is currently conducting researches.

“About 1.4 million euros will be allocated for the construction of the power plant. And the funds will be provided at the expense of loans provided by the Russian Federation to Iran,” he said.

Khaefinejad emphasized according to the agreement, the construction of the thermal power plant will be carried out by Iranian companies, and the potential of local producers will be used to supply the equipment.
