Georgia sees decrease in import of aviation fuel

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 27

The import of aviation fuel to Georgia amounted to 4,400 tons In October 2020, which is 300 tons or 6.4 percent less than in September (4,700 tons), Trend reports with reference to the Union of Importers of Oil Products of Georgia.

This indicator is 109.5 percent less compared to the same period last year.

From January through October this year, imports of aviation fuel amounted to 47,500 tons, which is 35,500 tons (42.8 percent less) than the same period last year (83,000 tons).

In the reporting period, 79.2 percent (37,600 tons) of aviation fuel imports accounted for Turkmenistan, 16.2 percent (7,700 tons) - for Turkey, 4.6 percent (2,200 tons) - for Romania.

The import of oil bitumen also decreased.

“The decline in imports of aviation fuel and oil bitumen is associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the reduction in imports of aviation fuel is associated with a significant reduction in the volume of air transportation,” explains the union.
