Kazakh KazMunayGas to continue improving sustainable dev't activities

The national company of Kazakhstan ‘KazMunayGas’ (KMG) will continue work to improve its activities to meet the highest standards in the field of sustainable development, the company told Trend.

According to a representative of the company, KMG pays great attention to such environmental aspects as climate, environmental protection, and biodiversity conservation. In its Development Strategy until 2028, sustainable development is defined as one of the company's strategic goals.

KMG annually publishes a Sustainable Development Report, which, as the company specified, in 2019 disclosed indicators of economic, environmental and social performance, includes information on activities on the most significant aspects from the point of view of sustainable development.

"Besides, in 2020, KMG's activities in the field of sustainable development were for the first time assessed at the international level by the Sustainalytics rating agency at 69 points, which reflects the company's rather high indicators in the field of sustainable development (33 out of 119 companies per industry around the world),” the company said. “The high appraisal from Sustainalytics confirms KMG's strategic commitment and responsibility to current and future generations regarding environmental and social stability issues, along with a constant process of improving corporate governance."

"As a national operator representing the interests of the state in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan, KMG will continue to improve its activities to meet the highest standards in the field of sustainable development," concluded the company.

KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan's operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state interests in the country's oil and gas industry.
