New hydrocarbon reserves discovered in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology State Corporation is implementing measures to develop the structures of the lower productive layers of the North Goturdepe and Cheleken fields, as well as discover new hydrocarbon reserves, said Merdan Rozyev, Chairman of Turkmengeology SC, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

Rozyev made this remark at a meeting dedicated to the development of the fuel and energy sector of Turkmenistan.

Rozyev reported on the reserves of iron ore used in cement production, data on which were transferred to Turkmen Ministry of Industry and Construction Production.

He said that in order to improve the supply of settlements with drinking water in all regions of the country, relevant works have been carried out.

Chairman also reported on the steps being taken to implement the latest scientific achievements, conduct field geophysical research and major exploration and exploration drilling operations.

The volume of geophysical research and work on wells has increased significantly in 1H2020. In addition, exploration was underway in areas where oil and gas resources are believed to be available.

Work was being carried out simultaneously on the country's territory of the Malay gas field, as well as on the territory of Topazguy.

As it was reported earlier, the initial total resources in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea are currently estimated at 12.1 billion tons of oil and gas condensate.

At the same time, the country's gas reserves in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea are estimated at 6.1 trillion cubic meters.

The total geological reserves of Turkmenistan amount to 71.2 billion tons of conventional fuel, of which 53 billion tons are resource reserves of deposits on land, and 18.2 billion tons are located within the Turkmen sector the Caspian Sea.
