Trend:

Iran's gas consumption in commercial and household sectors has increased during the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), said the head of the dispatching department at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).

"Iran's gas consumption in commercial and household section increased 27 percent and Coronavirus spread have caused 12 percent of this rise, "said Mohammad Reza Jolai, Trend reports citing YJC.

"Other elements such as energy waste in transmission pipeline and temperature tools also caused the increase. Gas is also being consumed at industries and power plants and being exported but the priority has always been households and commercial sectors for the NIGC," he noted.

"Gas consumption in power plants is ongoing and reached 70 million cubic meters. The current gas consumption in the household sector is 565 million cubic meters that had decline compare to last week but consumption is expected to increase by seasonal low temperature in winter," he added.

According to Jolai if each individual in the household sector reduces gas consumption by 15 percent the National Iranian Gas Company has reached its standard target," he said.
