Iran's Oil Minister concludes official working visit to Russia

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.22

The recent trip of Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh to Russia and negotiations with Russian officials were successful, said a member of parliament's energy commission.

"Meetings between Bijan Zangeneh the Iranian Oil Minister and Russian officials were strategic meetings that two sides have discussed economic cooperation," said Ghasem Saedi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The negotiations were in two fields, first continuation of Russian oil companies' work in Iran that have previously left due to sanctions and continue of oil field development. The Russian side has expressed interest to cooperate in this field," he said.

Iranian Oil Minister has met with Alexander Novak Deputy Prime Minister and Nikolai Shulginov Minister of Energy in his trip to Moscow by heading an Iranian delegation.

"We would have cooperation with Russia based on the legal framework and Iran's general policies by preserving the country's interests. The Oil Minister and his delegation have insisted that Russian companies could enter any field that Iran needs by following the principle of Iranian commodities that produced in our country in their contracts. These companies' priority should consider Iranian goods," he noted.

"The other field of discussion was participation between technological companies and transferring information. Utilizing the capacity of Iranian companies informs of partnership with Russian companies and signing contracts was another topic. We have expressed interest in cooperation in all fields including oil, gas, energy, and nuclear energy, this cooperation would be based on the framework of Iran's policies," Saedi added.

He also pointed "Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister have welcomed the cooperation with Iranian companies. Russian companies that left Iranian plans would return and work on new projects. Iran's list of projects was announced to the Russian side."

"The Russian oil companies have expressed readiness to sign a contract with the Iranian side, they expressed interest to participate and the two sides could develop various cooperation structures," he added.

Bijan Zangeneh has traveled to Moscow for a review of the global oil market situation and left Moscow for Tehran after intensive negotiations.
