By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The "State Electricity System of Georgia" company is building 500/220-kilowatt power lines with a length of 56 km, Trend reports via Georgian media.

These lines will connect the Jvari (500/220 kV) and Khorg (220/110 kV) substations as part of the Jvari-Khorg high power transmission line project.

The project cost is about 16 million euros. The project plans to install 271 towers. The project is being implemented with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Its completion is scheduled for 2021.

“During the infrastructure work, the local population will be employed. The cost of the Jvari-Khorg project is approximately 16 million euros. The project is important for the stable energy supply of the region, as well as for the population of Georgia and the local business sector. The Jvari-Khorg power transmission infrastructure will significantly enhance the country's energy security. In addition, it will contribute to the supply of energy both directly to the region and the entire country,” said Nino Vibliani, Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.

According to her, all families, over whose property new power transmissions will be carried out, will receive compensation at the high market value, which was established by the Levan Samkharauli National Bureau of Forensic Science. The total amount allocated for the issuance of compensation is up to 4 million lari ($1.2 million).
