Azerbaijan reveals volume of electricity generation from renewable energy sources in 2020

Azerbaijan generated 24.03 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2020, which is a decline of 7.8 percent compared to 2019, Trend reports referring to the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

Some 1.03 billion kilowatt-hours of that volume accounted for the production of electricity by hydroelectric power plants, down by 32.3 percent over the year.

Meanwhile, the volume of wind energy produced in Azerbaijan lowered by 9.8 percent on an annualized basis by making up 94.3 million kilowatt-hours.

Some 45.8 million kilowatt-hours of solar energy were produced in the reporting year, which is by 7.8 percent more than in 2019.

According to the committee, the products and services worth over 1.9 billion manat ($1.1 billion) were produced in the sectors of production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam in Azerbaijan in 2020, which is by 2.4 percent more than the year before.
