Mega-projects to be implemented in Iran’s petrochemical sector

As many as 3 mega-projects will be implemented in Iran’s petrochemical sector in the next Iranian year (March 21, 2021 to March 21, 2022), Director of the Planning and Development Department of the Iranian National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Hassan Abbaszadeh said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The director noted that Iran's polymer production will exceed 20 million tons per year after the launch of facilities in 2027.

“At present, Iran produces 9 million tons of polymer products annually,” he added.

Abbaszadeh said that a plant will be built at the Hormoz Petrochemical Company at a cost of about $4.5 billion. The plant will produce 5.8 million tons of various polyethylene and polypropylene products per year. The fuel of this plant will be supplied with ethane and butane gases.

According to him, in addition, a plant worth $1.6 billion will be built at Iran's Vista Energy Arghavan Company. The plant can produce 1.8 million tons of olefin products a year. The fuel of the plant will be supplied with ethane and butane gases.

The director noted that at the same time a plant will be built at Aria Energy Company operating under the Parsian Oil and Gas Development Company at a cost of $4.8 billion.

The plant will produce 4.8 million tons of aromatic olefin products a year. The fuel of this plant will be naphtha and ethane products.
