Turkmenistan ranks second in terms of oil exports in transit through Russia, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

Turkmenistan exported more than 320,460 tons of oil through Russia from January through February 2021, thus losing the first place to Kazakhstan (2.14 million tons of oil).

Turkmenistan exported 240,660 tons of oil through the territory of Russia in February 2021.

The transit of oil from Turkmenistan through the territory of Russia amounted to 2.1 million tons from January through November.

Only in November 2020, more than 160,000 tons of Turkmen oil were sent through Russia.

The volume of export of Turkmen oil to the countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) through the trunk oil pipeline of Russia’s Transneft PJSC amounted to 2 million tons in 2019.

It is planned to transport 488.5 million tons of oil via Transneft trunk oil pipelines in 2020.

Turkmenistan’s oil export through Russia renewed after a two-year hiatus at the beginning of 2019.

In general, about 10 million tons of oil are produced annually in Turkmenistan, the bulk of which is refined at local enterprises.
