The head of the Industries Commission of the Iran's Chamber of Commerce Abolfazl Roghani said the country has to lay off the production of gasoline-fueled cars and step up the production of the LPG-fueled cars, Trend reports via ILNA.

"The LPG cars have been in use in the country's industry sector for several years, but their volume is quite limited," he said.

Roghani said Iran's parliament is looking to approve the manufacturing of LPG-fueled cars on a larger scale, without specifying if there is enough fuel for LPG cars if the parliament approves the new plan.

"Our industries are still struggling to get fuel,” he said. "We've been experiencing gas shortage in our industries this year."

“Mazut was consumed due to the lack of fuel and gas in the country,” he said.

According to Iranian media, during the review of the next Iranian years budget bill (starts n March 21, 2021), the Budget Commission of the Parliament added a clause to the bill to add LPG to the country's fuel basket.
