Enagás gets involved in new renewable energy project

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Spain’s Enagas company has been involved in another renewable energy project together with Teréga, DH2 and GazelEnergie, Trend reports citing the company.

The three companies have inked a Memorandum of Understanding on Franco-Spanish Lacq Hydrogen project.

This project will study the production and supply of renewable hydrogen from Spain to France between DH2 and GazelEnergie; hydrogen transmission from Spain to France between Enagás and Teréga; hydrogen storage and transmission on the Teréga grid to supply hydrogen to GazelEnergie’s renewable power plant; renewable power production, 100 percent dispatchable, via a combined cycle power plant operated by GazelEnergie.

Enagás promotes the development of renewable gases as new key solutions in the decarbonisation process and in the development of a circular economy. The existing gas infrastructures are prepared for the transport and storage of these renewable and non-electric energies.

Enagás is currently working in collaboration with various institutions and companies from the sector to promote the development of these renewable gases. It has already signed agreements with the regional government of Asturias and the regional government of Aragón, as well as companies such as Repsol, Ferrovial, Ence and Emgrisa amongst others. It also supports start-ups that have emerged from its Enagás Emprende programme that are focused on promoting renewable gases, such as BioEnGas.

As part of its commitment to renewable gases, Enagás participates in European innovation projects and diverse R&D initiatives with the aim of promoting a sustainable business model for renewable hydrogen. Among them, it's worth highlighting the SUN2HY project, in which Enagás, together with Repsol, are developing a new technology to produce renewable hydrogen from solar energy.
