The excavations related to increasing extraction from the Iran-Iraq joint Naft Shahr oil field (called Naft Khana in Iraq) in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran) are nearing completion, Executive Director of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) Ramin Hatami said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The director stressed that the third well will be repaired soon. This plan will be completed until summer.

It is estimated Iran's Naft Shahr oil field contains about 692 million barrels of crude oil. Iran extracts daily 5,000 barrels of crude oil from this field.

“As for the development of fields around the Naft Shahr field, taking into account the existing processing potential of the Naftshahr desalination center, it is planned to be developed the Sumar, Saman and Delavaran fields,” the company official said.

A plan is being implemented for the development of Iran's Sumar, Saman and Delavaran fields. About $115 million will be spent under this plan, and extraction will increase by 11,000 barrels per day. The crude oil extracted from these fields is first processed in the Naft Shahr desalination unit.
