Iran discloses generation data of renewable energy power plants in Gilan Province

The alternative renewable energy power plants in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) generated 405,000 megawatt-hours of electricity in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), manager on electricity sales of Gilan Regional Electric Company (GILREC), Mohsen Babazadeh said, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to Babazadeh, this amount of electricity was generated by 5 alternative renewable energy power plants in the province. These are Tarik small hydroelectric power plant, Sefidrud small hydroelectric power plant, Sineh Hooni small hydroelectric power plant, Bijar small hydroelectric power plant, Manjil wind power plants.

The official added that alternative renewable energy power plants prevent the release of greenhouse gases into the environment.

Reportedly, there are 11 alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran's Gilan Province. Some 6 of these power plants are combined cycle power plants and 5 are hydroelectric and wind turbine power plants.

According to the statistics of the Iranian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, the alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated about 5.91 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

As a result of the operation of the alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran, 1.67 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.3 billion liters of water were saved during the 12 months, as well as, the spread of 3.97 million tons of CO2 gas were prevented.
