There is no continuing technical issue in Shah Deniz, says BP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.7

By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

Currently, there is no continuing technical issue in Shah Deniz, BP Azerbaijan told Trend, commenting on reports about the fall in natural gas supplies via the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) to Turkey due to technical failures in production wells in Azerbaijan.

“We experienced some technical problem on one of the two Shah Deniz platforms on 22 February which impacted our deliveries to TANAP and which was fixed within a few hours allowing the flow to restart after that. The flow then slowly ramped up back to normal and, as I said, currently we are not experiencing any technical issue,” said the company.

Earlier, Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST) said that natural gas deliveries to Turkey via the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) have decreased since 23 February 2021 due to the technical failures in production wells in Azerbaijan.

EXIST said that natural gas delivery from the Azerbaijani supply source via TANAP entry point decreased on February 23, 2021 due to a technical malfunction in gas production wells in Azerbaijan and this low delivery is still continuing.

“The supply deficit is covered by storage facilities, LNG terminals and other supply sources. In this context, gas supply continues to our cities, industrial facilities and natural gas cycle power plants without any interruptions,” said EXIST.
