Repairing of last well in Iran's Naft Shahr field launched

The repairing of the last well No. 11 in Iran-Iraq joint Naft Shahr oil field (called Naft Khana in Iraq) in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran) has been launched, an official of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), Gholam Reza Al-Mahmoud said, Trend reports citing the NIDC’s website.

The repair is related to increase of oil extraction from the field.

The official noted that the repair work on this well is being carried out with the ‘Fath 48’ drilling rig. The repairing of well No. 11 will be completed within two months and handed over to the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC).

Al-Mahmoud added that earlier, one development well was drilled and 2 wells were repaired in Naft shahr field with ‘Fath 35’, ‘Fath 81’ and ‘Fath 48’ drilling rigs.

Reportedly, it is estimated Iran's Naft Shahr oil field contains about 692 million barrels of crude oil. Iran extracts daily 5,000 barrels of crude oil from this field. Within the plan to maintain and increase extraction from the field, it is planned to be drilled 1 new well and repaired 3 wells and $30 million will be spent in this regard.
