The Georgian Co-Investment Fund plans to complete the construction of the Mtkvari HPP at the end of 2021, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to Executive Director of the ZKM company which is taking part in the project's implementation, Tsotne Ebralidze, Mtkvari HPP is the largest ZKM project in terms of investment.
The total investment reaches $157 million.
"The project is being implemented. In early February 2020, within the framework of the Mtkvari HPP project, the excavation of the longest and largest in diameter tunnel was completed (the length of the tunnel is 9.6 km, the diameter of the excavation depth is 6 meters)," Ebralidze said.
As he noted, the tunneling was one of the most important and long-term stages of the project, with the completion of this stage the construction moved to the final stage.
