BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.16
By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:
It is planned to start gas injection into storages this weekend, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at SOCAR, told Trend.
“Gas withdrawal from the storages has been suspended recently, as the winter season has ended. Around 800 million cubic meters of gas remained in the underground storages at the end of the winter season,” he said.
Azerbaijan started withdrawal from gas storages on Nov.11, 2020 taking into account the demand.
There are two underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan: Galmaz and Garadagh. Both gas storage facilities are operated by SOCAR.
Galmaz underground gas storage was created in 1975 in north-west of Galmaz oil and gas field, which covers an area of 975 hectares.
Galmaz field is located in 75 kilometers from Baku, in north-east of Lower Kura depression.
