Azerbaijan’s gas exports see 45% growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.16

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

In the first quarter of 2021, more than 5 billion cubic meters of gas were exported from Azerbaijan, a 45 percent increase from the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR.

The increase in gas export is related to the launch of TAP pipeline.

During the first quarter, SOCAR’s crude export performance was 4.5 million tons of oil and more than 512 million cubic meters of gas.

SOCAR exports both the crude, it produced by own means, and the shares in oil of SOCAR and Azerbaijan, produced by the international consortia. In total, nearly 7 million tons of crude oil were exported from the country and loaded on tankers.

SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan. Three production divisions, one oil refineries and one gas processing plant, a deep water platform fabrication yard, two trusts, one institution, and 23 subdivisions are operating as corporate entities under SOCAR.

SOCAR conducts various petroleum activities in countries such as Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Switzerland, Germany and Ukraine, including trading activities, mainly in Switzerland, Singapore and Nigeria.
