BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.19

By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

Shah Deniz gas and condensate field offshore Azerbaijan will account for the major part of the country’s gas production growth in 2021 like in the previous years, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at SOCAR, told Trend.

He noted that aside from Shah Deniz, the fields operated by SOCAR, in particular, Umid and other fields operated by Azneft production union will also contribute to the 2021 growth.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that Azerbaijan’s natural gas production will grow from 0.62 million of barrels per day in 2020 to 0.67 million of barrels per day in 2021.

The country is expected to ramp up production in 2022 and bring it to 0.71 million of barrels per day, according to the organization.

IMF estimates that the country’s gas output was equal to 0.62 million of barrels per day in 2018 and 0.55 million of barrels per day in 2017, while the average production amounted to 0.30 million of barrels per day between 2000 and 2017.
