Germany ready to take part in gas production expansion projects in Kazakhstan

Germany’s companies are ready to participate in gas production expansion projects in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, Tilo Klinner, German Ambassador to Kazakhstan said, Trend reports citing the regional akimat (administrative center).

Klinner made the statement during the meeting with the region’s Head Zhenis Kasymbek.

“The number of joint ventures with the participation of Germany is growing every year in the region. Currently the number reached 120 joint ventures. Recently, a number of major projects with the participation of German capital has been implemented in the region,” the head of the region said.

Kasymbek added that the akimat is interested in expanding the cooperation with German companies. He reminded that two companies with participation of German capital operate at Saryarka special economic zone and invited the German investors to expand cooperation at the special economic zone.

In turn, the ambassador said that he is ready to discuss new opportunities for cooperation in metallurgy.

“There is a cluster of enterprises in the Karaganda region, which makes it possible to expand business partnerships. There are plans to expand gas production. I will soon have a meeting with the management of ArcelorMittal Temirtau company. There is a project being developed at the moment where German business is ready to participate. In the future, it is also possible to switch to the production of "green" steel,” the ambassador said.

The ambassador also proposed to set up a working group for consideration of the project and negotiations holding.
