By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and ICGB AD, a project company for construction of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), have signed a Services Agreement, ICGB AD told Trend.
According to the agreement, necessary pressure levels for transmission from TAP through IGB to the entry point with the transmission network of Bulgartransgaz EAD will be provided, said the company.
The IGB gas pipeline will be connected with the Greek national gas transmission system in the area of Komotini and with the Bulgarian national gas transmission system in the area of Stara Zagora. The planned length of the IGB pipeline is 182 km, the pipeline diameter will be 32” and the projected capacity will be up to 3 bcm/y in the direction from Greece to Bulgaria and the same capacity also in reverse flow. Depending on the interest from the market and the capacities of the neighboring gas transmission systems, the pipeline is designed for increasing its capacity up to 5 bcm/y for following up the market with the additional installation of a compressor station.
Construction work on the IGB is expected to be completed at the end of the year and commercial operation is expected in the second half of 2022.
The IGB will transport blue fuel from Shah Deniz 2 to Bulgaria. Through this pipeline, which will join TAP, Bulgaria will import 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year from Azerbaijan. IGB will also connect the gas transmission systems of DESFA and TAP at Komotini with the transmission system of Bulgartransgaz at Stara Zagora.
