Azerbaijan reports decline in electricity production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 20

Hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) of Azerbaijan produced 427.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first 4 months of 2021, which is 28.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the country’s State Statistical Committee.

Power plants of Azerbaijan have generated 8.38 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for the specified period, the committee said.

In the reporting period, thermal power plants (TPPs) produced 7.65 billion kilowatt-hours, which is 0.3 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, the report said.

According to the report, during the reporting period, wind power plants (WPPs) in Azerbaijan produced 29.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, a decrease of 11 percent year on year.

Solar power plants generated 13.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity for the specified period, which exceeds the figure for the same period last year by 7.8 percent.
