Azerbaijan’s electricity exports in the first 4 months of 2021 totaled 554.5 million kWh, which is 53.8 million kWh more compared to the same period of 2020, the country’s Ministry of Energy told Trend on May 24.
During the reporting period, over 8.9 billion kWh of electricity was produced in Azerbaijan, while imports of electricity made up 47.2 million kWh, the ministry stated.
From January through April 2021, the production of electricity by Azerbaijan’s electricity supplier, Azerenergy OJSC, amounted to over 8 billion kW/h. Meanwhile, the country’s thermal power plants (TPPs) generated more than 7.6 billion kW/h of electricity.
As reported, the electricity production by the State Energy Service of the country’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic equaled 115.9 million kWh; the autonomous republic’s TPPs – 40.2 million kWh, solar power plants - 13 million kWh, other power plants – 758.9 million kWh, and wind power plants of Azerishig JSC – 22.5 million kWh.
