BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 11

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran has extracted 1.86 trillion cubic meters of gas from Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field from 2001 (when it has started extraction from this field) to the end of last Iranian year (March 20, 2021), Trend reports citing Pars Oil and Gas Company’s website.

Moreover, Iran extracted 2.2 billion barrels of gas condensate from the field within the mentioned period.

According to the report, Iran has invested about $90 billion in the South Pars gas field so far. While Iran's revenues from this field, amounted to $335 billion (with the price of per cubic meter of rich gas at 18 cents in 2017).

Iran has 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate shares in the 3,700-square-kilometer areas in South Pars gas field, the report said.

"Iran's daily gas extraction from this field has increased by 418 million cubic meters over the six years. So, Iran’s daily gas extraction from South Pars gas field increased by 28 million cubic meters 8 years ago (from March 21, 2013 through March 20, 2014), by 95 million cubic meters 7 years ago (from March 21, 2014 through March 20, 2015), by 28 million cubic meters 6 years ago (from March 21, 2015 through March 19, 2016), by 85 million cubic meters 5 years ago (from March 20, 2016 through March 20, 2017), by 56 million cubic meters 4 years ago (from March 21, 2017 through March 20, 2018), by 61 million cubic meters 3 years ago (from March 21, 2018 through March 20, 2019), by 65 million cubic meters 2years ago (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), " the report said.

According to the report, thus, Iran's extraction potential from the South Pars gas field has exceeded 700 million cubic meters daily.

As reported, The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable.
