BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The electricity generation of the Shahid Salimi (Neka) Thermal Power Plant in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) increased by 7 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Managing Director of Iran’s Neka Power Generation Management Company Mohsen Nemati said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

Nemati noted that the Shahid Salimi TPP generated 5.93 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 6 months.

The director added that 74 percent of electricity generated at the Shahid Salimi TPP over six months, was generated by steam units and 26 percent - by combined-cycle units.

“Within 6 months, about 57 percent of the thermal power plant's annual plan has been fulfilled,” he said.

As reported, Iran's Shahid Salimi (Neka) TPP has four steam units, and each of them can generate 440 megawatts of electricity. The thermal power plant also has two gas units, each of which can generate 137.6 megawatts of electricity.

In addition, the TPP has one gas-steam unit with a capacity of 160 megawatts of electricity and two expansion turbines with a capacity of 9.4 megawatts each.

Iran's Shahid Salimi Neka TPP has the potential to generate a total of 2,214 megawatts of electricity and accounts for more than 4 percent of electricity generated in Iran.
