Iran’s Rey TPP increases electricity generation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 22

Electricity generation of the Rey Thermal Power Plant in Iran’s Tehran Province increased by 13 percent during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Executive Director of Rey Power Generation Management Company Hamid Badorestani said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

The director noted that the Rey TPP generated about 2.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 11 months.

Badorestani added that of this, about 2.25 billion kilowatt-hours have been supplied to Iran's electricity network.

“Despite the fact that several units of Rey TPP are currently under repair, electricity generation continues at the stable rate,” he said.

Iran's Rey Thermal Power Plant has a total of 29 gas turbines and the generation capacity of this power plant is 979.4 megawatt-hours.

At present, 21 gas turbines of the TPP are operating and can generate 754 megawatt-hours of electricity.
