Iran boasts high-value plans to collect flare gas – NIOC

Iran has five major plans worth 7 billion euro to collect flare gas from oil fields, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

He made the remark during an event dedicated to the signing of contracts for the collection of flare gas from oil fields in the east of the Karun River in Iran on March 3, 2022.

According to Khojasteh Mehr, as a result of the implementation of the mentioned 5 plans, it will be possible to obtain gas produced by 2 phases of the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) a year.

The CEO added that the contracts signed today are one of the five plans.

The deputy minister also pointed out that in the next Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), NGL-3100 and NGL-3200 plants will be put into operation in the country.

"In addition, discussions are underway with 5 Iranian petrochemical companies and 1 steel company to invest in the collection of flare gas from oil fields," he said.

On March 3, 2022, Iran's Persian Gulf Bid-Boland Gas Refining Company has signed 8 contracts worth 470 million euros with 14 Iranian companies to collect flare gas from oil fields in the east part of the Karun River in south-western Iran.
