BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. About 320 megawatt-hours have been added to the Iran's electricity generation capacity with the launch of the Pasargad Thermal Power Plant on the Qeshm Island in Hormozgan Province, the head of Pasargad Energy Development Company’s branch in Qeshm, Hassan Maddahi told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Maddahi, the thermal power plant was built by the private sector at a cost of 90 million euro.

The official added that the construction of the power plant began two years ago (on September 2020), and is now fully operational.

"During the construction of the power plant, 700 people were employed, while after its launch, 100 more people were employed," he said.

Maddahi stressed that due to the warming weather and increasing electricity consumption in the country, the power plant will greatly assist in the supply of electricity in southern Iran.
